If you're looking for easy access to the Cook Inlet for fishing or incredible pictures of bald eagles then you need to visit the Deep Creek State Recreation Area. The Deep Creek State Recreation Area has a good amount of parking, but not much else. I spoke with a guy who just finished flaying a halibut. He said that it took him a little over an hour to catch the halibut and return back to the beach with his Zodiac boat. Around the corner you'll find numerous bald eagles picking at fish carcasses. The entertainment is watching the bald eagles defend the fish carcasses from the seagulls. Bring earplugs because those seagulls are loud. This place is sort of magical. It's as close to real beach as you can get in Alaska for the most part. There's usually ample parking and the view are amazing as well as being able to day camp and roam up and down the beach.
